Thank you for such heart felt words about our wonderful four legged friends and companions. I'd take any dog over Michael Vick as a friend or companion. To finally get caught and then have this moment when he repents is bull sh--. He cannot and probably will not make the real change about caring about dogs that he needs to. One must feel love before they can share it and I suspect he doesn't really get it. It's whatever money buys for him. How pathetic and sad that he was actually a role model for our youth. He truly is a loser in every sense of the word. This type of violence transfers over to humans very quickly and it's often where it starts, use the pet aganist your girl friend or wife & children to control them. He really needs some anger management help more than any time around dogs again. I hope he is supervised VERY closely. Kris in Minnesota

I saw the interview of Mr. Simon on 60 minutes and was hoping that the Sam Simon Foundation could help our dog. We have a german shepard that has had a serious skin condition. We love her dearly, but do not have the finances to continue her medical care. Every year her condition worsens, and this year has not been good. My husband insists we have to put her down, but my girls and I were hoping that maybe there were other options available to us. Please help!!!

It is really not surprising that we have not been hearing about this on TV. There have only been a few reports regarding treats removed from Walmart shelves. Why would even the CDC bother to make a great big deal of it.
On Sept. 7, 2007, according to Reuters, the CDC announced that dog-to-dog rabies transmision had been eradicted from the USA, adding that it was one of the biggest success stories in the last 50 years.
I discovered this news by accident on the internet, and cannot find anyone who has seen a report on TV. Somehow, issues that affect big drug or chemical corporations elude the public eyes and ears. Surely this is reaching all types of media. Could they be choosing to ignore it? Should the public wonder why and be concerned?
Should we wonder if we will get vital news concerning our own food supply everytime something goes wrong? Should we wonder if we will hear about something dreadful from Communist China that ends up on the dinner table?
When there is so much time for celebrity gossip to be reported, wouldn't you think there would be enough news hours to actually give us a daily update on any dog food reports or anything else that we need to know about.
The public would be shocked to learn how many poisoning are reported to the ASPC each year. We must wonder who decides what is important for us!

I subscribe on an online group which send out Amber Alerts for pets. A huge percentage of the dogs lost are either in transport, recently adopted, or in foster care. Always keep dog on a secure collar which is both strong enough and snug enough so that the dogs can't slip it and bolt if frightened. Virtually every dog who is posted as found by its owner has a microchip, registered with the appropriate agency.
