After being missing for almost 2 weeks, Enzo, a one-year-old Yorkie is now safe at home thanks to a simple and affordable technology, the pet microchip.  And Enzo’s owner, “Ugly Betty” star Vanessa Williams, couldn’t be happier.  So happy in fact that Williams is now teaming up with HomeAgain to encourage pet lovers to join her to help reunite more lost pets with their families and has also been named an Honorary HomeAgain PetRescuer.

With HomeAgain, the leader in companion animal recovery, a lost pet is recovered approximately every six minutes, with almost 400,000 successful recoveries to date.

Summer is a dangerous time for pets to be outside.  The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) actually pinpoints July 5 as the day of the year when the most lost pets end up at shelters.  This is caused by pets escaping from yards, running away after Independence Day fireworks or being displaced due to seasonal natural disasters like hurricanes and floods.

Unfortunately, for those cats and dogs that are not chipped and enrolled, most end up in shelters. The shelter staffs are doing their best to return pets to their owners but pets without a microchip or who are not enrolled in a recovery database have a significantly reduced chance of being reunited with their owners.

You can learn more about HomeAgain microchipping by visiting their site www.homeagain.com or contacting your Veterinarian.

“Four-Paws-Up” to Vanessa for speaking out and supporting a wonderful cause.
