This URGENT REPORT comes from a report on Best Friends Network and also from the many E-mails that we have been receiving as friends are trying to spread the word about this situation.

As the Melbourne FL dog track halts racing until December 26th, hundreds of greyhounds must be relocated.   Some of active racers will be sent to other tracks in the state.  Meaning that many pets will have to be put down to make room for the incoming dogs.  The high and sudden volume causes concern of an  overwhelming burden on local animal shelters, and an inevitable danger of these pets facing death because there is just no room for them.

The most urgent need is for short-term (several weeks) foster homes until the rescue groups can get the dogs vetted and arrange for transportation.  If you can help with this critical need please contact Carol Becker of Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions at or Beverly McCartt at or 407-760-1484 (cell).
