Our congrats go out to Ryan Newman, for winning the historical 50th running of the Daytona 500 yesterday.  Way to go for all of your hard work on the track, and most importantly for all of the work you do for homeless pets!

If you didn’t already know, Ryan and Krissie Newman are the national spokespeople for the Humane Alliance’s National Spay/Neuter Response Team (NSNRT) and honorary capital campaign co-chairs for the Humane Society of Catawba County.   In July 2007, Humane Society of Catawba County’s Spay/Neuter clinic is being built through a $400,000 donation from the Ryan Newman Foundation.

In addition, 100% of the Ryan Newman Foundation’s portions of the net proceeds from the book, Pit Road Pets: NASCAR Stars and Their Pets, will be donated to the Humane Society of Catawba County’s capital campaign to build a no-kill animal shelter, education center, dog park and regional public low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Hickory, North Carolina.

And to top things off, just before the race this past weekend, NASCAR fans had the opportunity to attend a Live and Silent Auction Event to benefit the Halifax Humane Society, the Ryan Newman Foundation and the Greg Biffle Foundation.  NASCAR fans and memorabilia collectors could bid on over 100 autographed items from  drivers including Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Proceeds raised from the evening will benefit the Greg Biffle Foundation, the Ryan Newman Foundation and the Halifax Humane Society, three organizations that support improving animal welfare.
