The Valley River Humane Society, serving Cherokee, Clay, Graham and Swain counties North Carolina, is out of funds, and desperately in need of donations and support.

It appears as though recent mismanagement of funds has caused the shelter to be facing its darkest times.

The organization is funded by donations, revenue from the humane society’s thrift store and money each of the four counties provide for animal control. If proper funding is not raised, shelter operations could be passed onto the Sheriff’s office.

Donations can be mailed to Valley River Humane Society, P.O. Box 658, Murphy, NC 28906. The society is also in need of more volunteers to help keep shelter operations open and available to the public.

We hope to spread the word by bringing this tragic situation to the attention of our pet friendly members and visitors to help the homeless pets affected by this situation.
